10 New Year Resolutions for a Blessed 2011 – Praise More

Hello, and thank you for stopping by.

Here’s my fifth Resolution for a Blessed 2011 – Praise More

When I looked back at 2010, I have a hard time remembering times when I took time to praise God. Isn’t that sad?

The only time I can remember praising the Lord was during the music at church, and even then, since I lead the Praise Team at my church, I’m too busy concentrating on the words of the song, the next chord change, and what song comes next. Isn’t that sad?

This year, I’m going to change that.

The Bible says,

Psalm 22:3 (King James Version)

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

What I want to do this year is have more of God’s presence in my life, and according to that scripture, God lives in praise.

I told the congregation that praise doesn’t only happen at church. It can happen at any time. Unfortunately, we wait until we see some great event to say, “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

You get a check in the mail that you weren’t expecting: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

The doctor gives you a good report: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

That previously unreachable person comes to know God: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

The mother-in-law changes her mind about coming to visit: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!” (My apologies to mother-in-laws.)

These are events that cause praise to rise up naturally in our spirits.

What I want to do is to praise God for the events that we take for granted.

My children are all healthy: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

There’s enough money in the back to pay the bills: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

I have a home for my family and I to live in: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

I wake up in the morning: “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!” (You might not want to shout this out especially if your wife is still asleep in the bed beside you.)

This year, I’m going to give credit where credit is due.

2011 will be a year of praise, and consequently it will be a year with more of God’s presence in my life, which in turn will lead to a more blessed 2011!

How about you?

Psalm 150

1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

See you tomorrow for my sixth Resolution for a Blessed 2011.

Thank you,

Blessed!

Sam
